NZ Welcomes the USA Eagles… Kiwi Style.

10 September 2011

Hey everyone! The USA rugby team is in New Zealand and they are nervous.

The Rugby World Cup is the world’s 3rd largest international sporting tournament, so you could understand some nerves… but that’s not the problem. The rugby-mad host nation, New Zealand, has the world’s number one ranked team (The All Blacks), while the USA Eagles are ranked 18th, but that’s not the problem either. When the host city welcomed the 46 man US team with a challenge to paddle a Waka up the town’s river alongside bare chested local warriors in grass skirts….that was the tipping point! Citing “safety and security reasons” the team pulled out of the ceremonial trip in the Maori war canoe, preferring to keep their feet planted firmly on terra firma. Who could blame them – even though it’s supposed to be our NZ heritage I’d be scared silly getting in one of those things! If you get to see coverage of the Rugby World Cup which starts this weekend, spare a thought for your traumatized Eagles and be sure to look out for the thousands of NZ-designed ALLOYFOLD Aluminum folding chairs (also with a world #1 ranking) that will support the prosteriors of fans up and down the country during this showcase event. Should you be inspired to use our world-beating lightweight, no-rust and virtually maintenance free folding chairs in your rental business, call me on 1 888 368 7713 or visit www.alloyfold.com and we promise not to mention the Waka. By the way, in a display of true USA pioneering spirit the Waka trip did actually go ahead after some considered risk re-assessment. Didn’t see any grass skirts though!
