Keith Klarin

Formerly a very successful rental store owner, Keith's sensible advice and insights into the industry in his own magazine PERL, and his columns in Rental Management, have become legendary. A past ARA president, he was inducted into the Rental Hall of Fame in 2002.

  Alloyfold exhibited one of my favorite chairs, the aluminum frame folding chair, which is 30 percent lighter than steel frames. New this year are powder-coated frames - so many more colors are available. It also had a table using aluminum legs that are tempered for strength, just like the chair frame.   There are two categories of products that perplex me — chairs and tables, and tents. Both of these are so deluged with competitors and knock-offs, it is difficult — if not impossible — to sort out the differences. After awhile, they all look the same. All I can advise is that you buy quality rather than price. If you do, you won't join the long parade of horror stories that have been told to me regarding some of the suppliers of these products.   Alloyfold NZ is the originator of the aluminum-frame folding chair that I've been touting for years. They have licensed McCourt Manufacturing to make the chair in the United States. Some of the largest renters in the country are using it because the labor and space savings are enormous.
